Word Nerd: Bucolic

Word Nerd Header Apr 2016 via LaWhimsybucolic definition Word Nerd via LaWhimsyBucolic is a word that describes that idyllic picture of rural life that seems to be woven into the collective conscious. When one is asked to depict their idea of the countryside, it’s often a bucolic image that flows forth. In this Pinterest world it’s an even more idyllic picture – a bucolic setting, halcyon in it’s beauty, tranquil in it’s vast, rolling lushness, filled with flowers, sunshine, soft, sweet air, and a delicious sense of escapism. Goodness, I want to be in that bucolic setting right now! While the rural countryside can be picturesque and lush and everything else bucolic, it can also be rough and work-a-day.

Bucolic is a delicious Spring word and a word that while idealized, is one that suits the serene beauty of the countryside.

Namaste ~ Ella
