Opia is another simply gorgeous word that describes an emotion we are all familiar with. Opia is that ambiguous emotion you feel in the center of your heart as you look another person in the eye and sense the invasion and vulnerability of the depths you see there and know they are being reflected in your own gaze. With opia you know you are seeing past the exterior and are seeing a raw, very real side of another, and while it is an honor, it’s also frightening in it’s intensity. Opia can occur at any given time when you make eye contact with another – sometimes it happens with a perfect stranger, other times with someone you’ve known forever. Each time it is like falling into the depths of another soul while sharing your own and in that brief moment, you don’t know quite who is who or which is which.
A simple glance as your eyes meet, a gaze into a soul’s indelible heart…that’s Opia ~Ella
Opia is both beautiful and uncomfortable, yet something I would never want to go through life without.

Hmmm, maybe something like “I caught her eye and time seemed to stop as a feeling of opia washed over me. The depth of vulnerability and emotion that passed between our eyes was startling, raw and almost unsettling in it’s familiarity.”…I hope that helps!
