Cwtch means a loving cuddle or hug, especially one that makes someone feel very happy and safe. Cwtch can also mean a cupboard or cubbyhole. Cwtch is a Welsh word that originates from cwts (couch) and from the French couche (couch).
Cwtch (pronounced kutch) is such a cozy, comfortable, loving word. Cwtch is like hygge, but with a broader yet more personal meaning. To be cwtched is to be hugged or cuddled in a safe, protective, loving embrace. When one cwtches, they are engaging in a healing moment of fika with someone they trust and love.

All of our lives need to be filled with a lot more cwtches. Ideally we should be providing cwtches and receiving cwtches as readily as we breathe, though I do know that everyone is different with their levels of okay intimacy. Perhaps we can widen the definition of cwtch to include simply providing safe spaces to be in, however we each define that. This world needs softness and kindness, acceptance, and yes, more cuddles and hugs as wanted.
