“If you don’t love yourself, you’ll always be looking for someone else to fill the void inside you, but no one will ever be able to do it.” ~ Lori Deschene
It all begins and ends with love…
“If you don’t love yourself, you’ll always be looking for someone else to fill the void inside you, but no one will ever be able to do it.”
Love is such an incredible, amazing, life-giving emotion. Love has the ability to touch every single part of us. It can make us, it can break us, it can heal us. Love is the one thing that can bind each and every living thing together if it is in it’s purest form.
The thing about love is that it starts with YOU. Love must be given regularly, must be nurtured and cared for. To do this, you pour love into your very being. You treat yourself with kindness, with gentleness, with respect, with gentle words and soft hands. When you do this, your love will grow and flourish.
The more your love grows and flourishes, the more you will have and this love will begin to spill over. Soon your surroundings will be bathed in your love, and then those you encounter will be touched by it. As this happens, then they will start to grow and flourish and their love will spill out in return.
Love has the capability to multiply into infinity (and beyond). This is it’s power, it’s gift to all of creation. It is both awe-inspiringly breathtaking and deliciously simple.
That said, there can be a dark side to love and that is that if you don’t start with some love of your own, some self-caring and kindness to yourself, then no one else can provide it in any sustainable way. Lori Deschene of Tiny Buddha, says it best with this marvelous quote – “If you don’t love yourself, you’ll always be looking for someone else to fill the void inside you, but no one will ever be able to do it.”.
You must start by loving yourself, by caring for yourself. If you go out trying to find this love you’ll always come up short because what your soul yearns for the most is love and acceptance from and by YOU. Yes, love from others is amazing and receiving love from another is deep and spectacular. The thing is, it’s even more fantastic and profound if you’re coming from a place of your own love.
We, all of us, yearn for love, for acceptance, for the loving touch (in any number of ways) of another. Why not start by providing it for yourself because as you do you will not only fill up any void you may have, but you will overflow and attract the love you desire as well!
