“Ah, kindness. What a simple way to tell another struggling soul that there is love to be found in this world.” ~ Alison Malee
There is but one true answer to so many things and that answer is kindness…
“Ah, kindness. What a simple way to tell another struggling soul that there is love to be found in this world.”
Kindness is such an undervalued quality to posses, though I truly cannot fathom why. To be kind is to be indulgent, considerate, helpful, benevolent and humane. Why wouldn’t we want to cultivate this quality within ourselves and encourage it in others?
Maybe it’s that society has set an expectation in us to win, and win big at all costs and that in order to play the game of life to win everyone is competition and competing for these same wins. That puts kindness in a very negative light since to show consideration and good will to another is showing weakness and letting yourself be trampled upon. It’s insane thinking, yet there it is.
I mean, how many people do you know who call those who practice kindness schmucks and suckers? Or who consider them weak because only weak people do things for others and don’t look out for number 1?
I mean that’s a fallacy right there. If one truly cultivates and practices kindness, then they will be starting that kindness with themselves. If you don’t provide your own kindness, then how will you be able to share your kindness fully with others? It’s juts that when you choose kindness, you end up with an overflow that is continually renewing and allowing you to spread it all about without taking or draining yourself.
Yes, there are times it can feel beyond difficult to even want to be kind to yourself, but if you pause and figure out why that is, you can usually find a way to be gentle and tender as you tend to your wounds.
Kindness is all about understanding, sympathy, thoughtfulness and patience. Kindness is also a talent that can become a habit with just a little encouragement and determination. It’s really a once you start why would you want to stop kind of thing, and even if you find yourself not being kind, it’s oh, so easy to begin again.
Right now we all need kindness and to be a kind human is the best thing we can all be. Kindness is going to be one of the main ways we can overcome this Covid-19 pandemic and it’s various fall-outs. Kindness can and will light the way and aid in how we move forward. It’s up to us to bring it and I believe we can!
