Ephemeral means lasting a very short time; transitory. Ephemeral derives from the Greek ephēmeros (lasting a day) , which is made up of epi- (on, upon) and hēmera (day).
Ephemeral is an absolutely gorgeous word in pronunciation, spelling and meaning. So many of life’s pleasures and beauties are ephemeral, yet their touch, their memory, also lingers upon the soul. Each season is filled with ephemeral moments and transitory delights. Each day too has an endless supply of ephemeral experiences, all of which add up to a rich, full life.
An ephemeral Autumn afternoon alight with the fiery glow of leaves dancing in the fading sunlight…
I am absolutely enamored with the word ephemeral and it shocked me that I had yet to use it here in Word Nerd. I literally use ephemeral almost daily as I wax on about a variety of things that tickle me and move me and fill my cup of joy to overflowing. Life may be fickle and difficult but it is also glorious and filled with so much to be grateful for and it’s those ephemeral moments that happen all around us that really strike home in my heart and soul! Do you like the word ephemeral?

Hi Ella,
I love the “ephemeral world” we experience every day , because it’s exactly about “being in the moment ” that I enjoy every day. Without that life can become boring.
I agree that it’s not really a rare word for me unlike many of your posted delights usually are, so it’s not unfamiliar to me… so it brought a smile to my face when I saw it♥️😁! Good work Ella! … glad you’re still around ☆☆☆☆☆
Namaste,
