Insouciance is a a word that almost has a lackadaisical tone to it, which seeing as insouciance means a calm, relaxed, indifferent state, is perfectly fitting. While I am usually rather wound-up, there are times when I do feel insouciant, whether it be just my mood or towards something. Insouciance is also one of those words that totally makes my beautiful to look at, read, and use lists! There is just something poetic and wonderfully luxurious about the word insouciance. When searching for an image to help describe insouciance, I kept running across the work of William McGregor Paxton and I have to say that He captured a certain insouciance in so many of his subjects, a certain casual, relaxed, natural sense of well-being and soul.
I think both of these capture insouciance perfectly, don’t you?
Insouciance is a delight, though perhaps a bit tricky to spell (I kept wanting to add letters while writing this, hee!), and it’s certainly a word I plan on utilizing a lot more!
