“Anti-racism is the active process of identifying and eliminating racism by changing systems, organizational structures, policies and practices and attitudes, so that power is redistributed and shared equitably.” – NAC International Perspectives: Women and Global Solidarity
Anti-Racism is an active way of being in the world in order to transform it. Anti-Racism is an action, not simply just not being racist. It is not enough to say that you are not a racist because anti-racism is not a label or an identifier. Anti-Racism is an active, livable choice, a choice that acknowledges that life has not, and is not, equal for everyone and that is something that needs immediate change.
Ways to begin being anti-racist can be found by educating yourself, dismantling your own inner discrimination based in everyday micro-aggressions, donating to any variety of black founded causes, and voting. Here is a short list of places to visit on-line to begin taking action…
- The Movement for Black Lives
- Black Lives Matter
- Indivisible: Taking Action in Solidarity with Minneapolis
- National Bail Fund Network

Black Lives Matter. It is beyond time that actionable steps are taken to achieve equality for every single black life. If we don’t start putting in the anti-racist work right here, right now, no lives matter because what hurts and demeans one of us, hurts and demeans us all. We white people need to step up and raise our black brothers and sisters up to stand shoulder to shoulder in equality. Change is inevitable and this time we need to ensure that Black Lives Matter at all times and in all ways. Step up and do better.
