Disgruntled is a word that sounds rather like what it means – grumbling, peevish, dissatisfied. Disgruntled is the word who’s back-formation helped create the word gruntled. When one thinks of someone who’s disgruntled they think of a person who is angry, grumpy, grumbling, annoyed or unhappy. I know that when I’m disgruntled I can be very peevish and not very enjoyable to be around.
Even in a field of bright, cheery flowers one can be disgruntled and discontented – I know, I’ve been there (though the affects of nature normally soothe my disgruntled state)!
Disgruntled is a bonus word this week since I used the word gruntled and simply had to have the matching set!
