Lethologica is the inability to remember the correct word, or in layman’s terms, tip of the tongue syndrome. While lethologica can be a rather debilitating psychological phenomenon, it’s normally just a slight and occasional nuisance for the majority of people. I mean we have all been in a conversation or writing a note when our brain seems to suddenly be possessed by a sudden blankness and we can’t recall the word that is sitting right there, just out of our mental reach, or now you know, lethologica at work.
You can almost see her mental wheels whirling away as she tries to recall the next word that she wants to write. The word that was right there before lethologica set in.
I always find it delightful to discover a word that describes an every day sort of happening and lethologica is certainly in that category!
