While last week I talked about sunshiny soul days, this week I’m going to talk about those days when life feels a bit too heavy and a bit too much. Those days when the sunshine and song in your soul seems quiet or even silenced.
On those days you do what you can and let the rest go and sing anyway. If you put just a bit of force behind it and sing even though there seems to be no song in your heart or soul in your go, you may just surprise yourself.
Stop for a moment and let a gentle, even hesitant hum begin to rise from your throat and as you do, see if that hum rises to your lips as a small smile starts to curve them up. Keep that little hum of your inner song going and let it flow through your body, coursing along with the beating of your pulse.
If you do this, you may find that hum burbling up and filling your heart and soul with your song and as that happens little things start to bring about joy and turn the heavy day into one of light and delight. You may find yourself laughing (one of the purest songs of the heart) and even singing aloud to the song that moves you and fills you with contentment and a sense of peaceful self.
So on those days when there isn’t a song in your heart, sing anyway. You may find the song was there all along, just waiting to be sung.
