Zaftig is really a quite lovely word that derives from the Yiddish zaftik (juicy) and the German saft (juice). Zaftig is used to describe a curvaceous, shapely woman, just as gamine is used to describe a pert, boyish woman. Zaftig is a positive word and one that instead of being used by men to describe and objectify women, can be used to cultivate self-love and body positivity. To be zaftig is to embrace and luxuriate in your luscious curves.
Throughout time zaftig women have been revered, worshiped, painted, and sculpted.
Each individual is amazing just as they are and zaftig is another wonderful descriptive to add to the body love category!
