Word Nerd: Farcical

farcical-definition-word-nerd-via-lawhimsyFarcical is one of those oh, so wonderful descriptive words that sounds almost as ludicrous as it’s meaning implies. To be farcical one needs only to act ridiculous, and not necessarily overly so. Serious situations that become preposterous and nonsensically absurd are farcical to a tee. The current Trump “political” situation is scarily farcical since it could become all too real, whereas Mel Brooks movies are hilariously farcical in a delightful sort of way.

Scene from the new farcical comedy Go-Bang from March 17 1894 The Graphic via LaWhimsyFarcical entertainment has long been regaling and thrilling audiences.

Writing the word farcical so many times has almost taken on a farcical charm, since the word itself is so musically endearing. What do you think about the word farcical?
