Solacing means to give comfort to, or make cheerful, in grief or misfortune. Solacing can also be used as a noun meaning a source of relief or consolation. Solacing derives from the Latin solari (to comfort), which is also the source of the English words console and consolation.
Solacing has several word relations in solace, solacer (one who solaces) and solacement (an act of solacing or being solaced). ~ Whew ~ I think that solacing is an ideal word for this season of gratitude and giving thanks since what better way to find solace for the heart than in gratitude? Yes, there are many things going sideways and in chaos, but our hearts and minds deserve a bit of solace and peace, for how else are we to keep going and eventually rise above? With kindness and gratitude we can make it though!
May this light provide a bit of solacing in dark, uneasy times, for the light is always there just waiting to shine brightly once more…
While different and even more than a bit weird, may this season of Thanksgiving bring you not only solace, but joy and comfort and soothing ease. Peace and delight to you and your kith and kin today and every single day!
Namaste ~ Ella
