Nature is always the answer, whether it be outside in the wild, or within your own human existence. The answers all lie within nature. It heals, it soothes, it comforts, and it knows. Autumn is a truly spectacular time in nature, with it’s beautiful juxtapositions – the bounty of life in the harvest crops, all being gathered in their colorful glory, the fiery, awe-inspiring show of the changing leaves, and the cold, changing weather, and shorter days that dip into dark, deep nights. I spend more time outside in the Autumn, breathing in the crisp, clear air, inhaling the woodsy, spicy scents of wood smoke and sweet, moldering leaves. I can feel life in everything, and the pulse of the earth as it begins to slow for it’s Winter sleep. This Native American proverb is one that sings in my ears, reminding me to turn towards Nature, back to where it all begins and ends, where all lives. The wind, the silence, the heart – they all sing, talk, and know. And I find the greatest teacher and the dearest comfort there, in it’s soul bound arms. Seek, listen, love, and know.
