An aphorism is a general truth, principle, or astute observation, and spoken or written in a laconic and memorable form, like “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”. Aphorisms are all over the place, shared, re-shared, pinned and re-pinned. I use aphorisms quite a lot, such as in my Monday Mantras – as a matter of fact this past Monday was a quote from the American aphorist Mason Cooley. Being an aphorist goes back as far as Hippocrates and literature is peppered with aphorisms.
Nietzsche knew what he was talking about and he was a master aphorist!
I enjoy aphorisms and intend to keep using them and pinning them!
