Perfection is such an overestimated end-goal. It’s something that pervades and permeates almost every aspect of life – whether it be through media, society, peers, work, play, etc. It’s thought to be perfectly acceptable to base your very being and self-worth on the rather elusive notion of perfection (wrap your mind around that circular statement!). Well, I’m here to tell you that nothing is ever completely and totally perfect and that’s just fine! Perfect is defined differently by each individual, and the collective conscious that influences those definitions keeps it in an unsteady, always unreachable state of fluctuation. It’s truly enough to drive one mad. Perhaps, instead of focusing on ultimate, societal perfection, we focus instead on living and discovering our own sense of imperfect perfection. By deciding that instead of having flaws that need fixing so that we are perfect, we simply have quirks that make us who and what we are. Each of us is a complete soul who has the means within us of being the best person we can be and that sounds fairly perfect to me – no matter what anyone or thing else says. If we do that, then maybe all of the so called imperfections wouldn’t matter or be all that important. And maybe we’d see our own, individual perfect moments as they shine in all their glory, and see how many more of those perfect moments there really are. Life isn’t perfect, but it does have perfect moments and elements – so take the power into your own hands and define your own perfect and take delight in it’s shining moments!
