Aquiver, now here’s a lovely descriptive word…okay, so my month of vintage romance novel reading left something of an impression on me and aquiver is one of the words that I found repeated many a time (though since these were mostly Regency Romances from the 60’s & 70’s, aquiver was used in the most hilariously innocent of ways – seriously, these were no bodice-rippers). I’ve always liked aquiver since it does seem so romantic and lusciously descriptive, you know, in ways like “She waited with baited breath, her heart aquiver with the anticipation of their reunion.” or “They were aquiver just thinking about all of the delights the day would bring!” or “Her mind, and indeed Her body, were aquiver with the news.”
Aquiver is simply a beautiful and fun word that I think should certainly be put to use more often, don’t you?
