Limn is one of those charming descriptive words that I run across rather often in my reading. I find sentences such as “the sun limned trees lined the curved road, beckoning me forward.” and “Her poetry was limned with a sense of fragile sadness and hope mingled inscrutably together.”. Alright, so I actually made those two examples of limn’s usage up, but they do come close to the truth. Limn is a simple, yet strong descriptive and one that I do want to use more.
The words seemed to flow across the page. Each line limned with the iridescent promise of what may yet be, yet tinged with the ache of what had been and what was left in it’s stead.
There is poetry in limn, in each of it’s simple, perfect letters, and in it’s strong, beautiful definition. What do you think?
