Affirmation Mondays

Affirmation Mondays 290 – Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.

Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it Martin Luther King Jr quote Monday Mantra 290 via LaWhimsy“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.~ Martin Luther King Jr.

There are many times in life when you must question if you are living with hatred or love as your motivation…

“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.”

Hate is such a driving force for so many that it has become a unifier, a means to an end, a rallying battle cry for “justice”. Yet, hatred is not a force that creates peace, provides true justice or brings about freedom.

Hatred rips asunder all that is good, honorable and fair. It breeds confusion, corruption, cruelty and injustice. It’s the root cause of racial biases and persecutions, of profiling and the truculency of our country’s framework (i.e. the systematic racism that lies deeply rooted throughout our entire history and continues to this day).

The answer to all of this hatred is not more hatred, no. It lies in love. Love is always, always the answer.

It is not a simple answer nor an easy road to follow, however, love will not cost you your soul or your conscious. With love you can mobilize, you can harmonize and you can illuminate.

To hate is to sink down to the same level as that which you hate. Sinking never saved a life, never created true change. Hate is a cycle and it’s the cycle that we need to break. By breaking free of the hatred, you break free of the cycle and you stop it dead in it’s tracks.

Now this doesn’t mean one cannot hate actions or situations or true, ugly, ignorant systems and social norms. It simply means you don’t allow the hate to control you or your actions as you deal with changing your place and part in it all.

As an example, white supremacy is truly hateful in every single possible way. The best possible way to dismantle it is to begin with love. Love of equality, love of all human begins, love of fairness and love of actual justice and righteousness. All white people must take ownership of how ingrained white supremacy is and do their part to actively and lovingly dismantle and change it.

Hatred will always be a part of life, yet it doesn’t have to be the reason or driving force in it. I challenge you to listen to love rather than hate and to do all that you can to dismantle the ingrained forms of hatred that may be holding you back and keeping you small. Allow love to be your motivation and your guide – you’ll be amazed at how it multiples and graces you 10-fold!
