Affirmation Mondays 223 – Wild is the music of autumnal winds Amongst the faded woods

Wild is the music of autumnal winds amongst the faded woods William Wordsworth fall quote Monday Mantra 223 via LaWhimsyWild is the music of autumnal winds Amongst the faded woods.” ~ William Wordsworth

This morning dawned crisp, with an icy blue sky and air as sharp and clear as a bell. The first frost lay crystal white in all the places the ever distant sun beams had yet to grace and there remained an echo of the wind that had been gusting about the day before. Autumn made it known that it was here and it had taken hold of the land and the first thing that popped into my mind was this lovely quote…

Wild is the music of autumnal winds Amongst the faded woods.

Autumn winds have their own song, spellbinding, haunting, sharp and alive. The winds are the harbingers of change and they bring with them the awareness of the long, cold sleep of winter in their bitter gusts. There is such beauty in this wildness, this brush of the dying and yet still so full of life. Autumn winds bridge the gap of the brilliantly alive and the deathly still.

The winds bring the blood rushing to all flesh that is exposed to it’s harshness, resulting in flushed cheeks and chapped lips as it reminds you of how alive you are. The fluid heaviness of the summer heat becomes a distant memory in the face of the Autumn winds and the way the air holds such a bold clarity it causes one to drink it down in greedy gulps.

For all that Autumn is season that is about fading, death and decay, it is also a season of bounty, beauty and promise. It’s a reminder to savor life, to embrace it’s extremes and to trust that Nature, though volatile at times, follows a pattern that will always bring about rebirth, renewal, and a return of life. Autumn is a season of the soul for a reason and I feel this is one reason why.

If “wild is the music of autumnal winds amongst the faded trees”, why that means that even in times when things seem to be dying away, fading, failing, if one pauses they can sense the life that still lingers and exists. The autumn winds are there to remind us that life goes on even in the bleakness and that there can be beauty even then.

This can be applied to ourselves. If we feel faded, bleak, lost, we must simply pause and listen and we, too, shall hear our own wild music playing through our seemingly faded selves. By tuning in we will find our way, our pulse, again and after a bit of quiet to recharge, we shall re-bloom and re-grown.

The seasons are but one representation of the cycle that repeats in everything. Autumn is a full-on reminder of this since there is so much beauty, letting go, bounty, death, and hope in it. Take some time to turn to Nature this season and allow it to guide you through your own life cycles, wherever they may be. Listen and allow yourself to hear your own wild music.
