Supine is a fun word and one that I know I often hear in passing, like during yoga (hello corpse pose which is in the supine position!). Supine also brings to mind visions of lying out in the Summer sun or lying inside under a fan, attempting to escape the Summer heat. Some consider the phrase lying supine to be somewhat redundant, however since supine is describing how you are lying (as opposed to lying prone or face-down), I don’t think it’s redundant at all. Supine can also mean passive or inactive, which I suppose when one is lying face-up, their body language is very open and unresisting and therefore quite relaxed and lazy.
