Chimerical comes from Chimera in Greek mythology – and chimera it’s self is used to loosely describe a grotesque, fantastic, or imaginary beast that is used in decoration. Chimerical goes beyond this and is used to describe a sort of wild, unfettered and unbridled sort of imagination that knows no bounds and has no sense of what we, as humans, would describe as reality. I love the heady freedom chimerical allows for, the brash, limitless wonder it holds. This type of fanciful imagination is what helps to bring art and the creative artistic to life. I love the power that the word chimerical holds in it’s grasp and I can only keep stretching my own imagination in hopes of touching upon it’s visionary awe. Certainly, there is a dangerous side to having such an imagination, but since that would be in it’s most extreme form, I think I can still safely aim for having a wild and fanciful sort of imagination.
Have a Chimerical day!
