Have you ever listed everything that you are that is worth loving?

So. Very. Much. This. I know how easy it is to play the comparison game, to using some arbitrary cultural and peer created ruler to measure my worth, my goals, my accomplishments, my lack-there-of.
I know that we are fully immersed in a virtual world where FOMO (the fear of missing out) is all too real. I know how it feels to hate yourself, or who it is you think you are, to let the darkness, the pain, the anxiety, the raw, ugly, nasty pull of that deep, self loathing.
I also know that as gruesome a picture that this has painted can be, the alternative is as pure and healing and wonderful as an early morning breeze. I know the release, the wholesome, nourishing, all-encompassing wonder that comes from loving yourself. To open your heart, your tender, gentle soul, and to let love, compassion, and acceptance flow is to know peace and happiness.
It’s not always easy to love yourself for everything that you are, simply because that means the not so great parts, the mistakes, the things you’d rather not acknowledge, let alone face. Yet they are still parts of you, and you, as a whole, a complete soul, is a wonderful, beautiful, magnificent thing. Even the not so great is there for a reason, and more often then not, it’s a reason that has a purpose.
It’s too easy to fall into the hate trap. By choosing to name all that you are that is worth loving, you are moving towards healing any hate you might be feeling. Pause the distraction of naming all that you are not and name all that you are. It’s an incredible act of gratitude that can alter your attitude!
The very first thing you can add to the list of things you are is this ~ YOU ARE LOVE. Love yourself for everything that you are, and you might end up amazing yourself – and you won’t be missing out on a damn thing, either!
