If you so choose the World holds so much to rejoice and delight in…
“We live in a World where joy & empathy & pleasure are all around us, there for the noticing. “
The world can seem a scary, dark, cold place sometimes. A place filled with woe, misery, negativity, and a sort of soul-sucking sadness. It can sometimes even see as though this is all there truly is at each turn. This is not quite so, not quite the truth.
The world also has an ever present goodness, a wholesome, joyful positivity. There is as much goodness as there is badness. It only takes perspective and noticing for it to become apparent.
In the same way that darkness cannot exist without light, for every awful thing, there is a wonderful thing. Balance is always at play, even if it takes a longer view or bigger picture at times to fully appreciate it. That said, even in the darkest of times there is light to be found if one goes looking for it.
We do have a choice – we can either embrace the positive or we can embrace the negative. We can add to the vibrations of this earth, this universe with the choice we make. And the more often we actively choose to seek out the positive and engage with it, the more we reflect its power and its light.
I choose to find the positive, the lightness that each day, each situation, holds. I actively pursue pleasure and cultivate joy in my life. Of course, the seemingly always present negative can create a slippery slope – Hello basic Internet.
The choice of positivity can seem daunting at first, especially if negative thinking has become second nature (i.e. it takes no thought to diss yourself, or grumble or bitch about whatever). It takes a bit of work to change a habit, a settled habit, but it is so worth it. It does make me think of Star Wars, though. I mean the Dark Side was a tempting and powerful choice, yet the Light Side was powerful in it’s own right and worth fighting for and embracing.
Once you’ve re-trained your mind, the positive becomes every bit as easy and second nature, and the negative begins to feel not right and off. It is easy to slid back into it (at least it has been for me) but the positive is always worth holding onto and working for. Not to mention, I have never, ever found choosing the positive to feel wrong or off the way that the the negative can.
As the uplifting, the positive, unfolds, you’ll see for yourself that this world is filled with joy, empathy, wonder, pleasure, and delight – it does just take noticing and appreciating. And once you begin, you might wonder at why you thought the negative was easier. Just because it was there and “popular” doesn’t mean it’s a good fit. The positive, however, is a great fit for every one!
