“‘They tried to bury us. They didn’t know we were seeds.” ~ Dinos Christianopoulos
This mantra is one that is laced through with the kind of hope that is born in the midst of oppression and hate. It is a rallying cry to and of the spirit and the heart.
It’s saying that no matter how much hatred, chosen ignorance, and terrorism is used, those who are being persecuted will prevail. They may try to bury us. They didn’t know we were seeds. Seeds of love. Seeds of light. Seeds that will fight, endure, and will triumph.
In the current World climate there are those who wish to push their ugly, vicious, white supremacist, nazi ways upon those who they deem as “other”. They are wrong. They are terrorists.
There ultimately is no other, only humans, and yet for some disgusting reason they keep trying. Well, they are going to fail. They are going to be named for exactly who and what they are – hate wielding terrorists.
Right now understanding, listening, learning, and changing is what is needed. Those who are continuing to be killed, injured, harassed, oppressed, victimized for simply being who they are need to be heard. They need to be acknowledged. They need to be given the full attention and change that they are asking for and that they more than deserve.
This cycle of abuse, neglect, insensitivity, and disregard needs to stop. It’s easy for me to say, easy for me to write this. Check your own privilege and do everything you possibly can to help put a stop to the systematic hatred. Help to sow and grow the resilient seeds of hope and change.
We can make this country, this world a much, much better place for everyone – but we have to act now to do it!
