Affirmation Mondays 144 – I have the choice of being constantly active and happy or introspectively passive and sad…

Or, I can go mad by ricocheting in between.” ~ Sylvia Plath

It feels as though the world (okay, the US) has gone utterly mad. Up is down, left is right, alternative facts are truth – or at least that’s what a great many in power would like us to believe and the fight to keep facts factual and the truth truthful all the while protesting and protecting basic human rights is non-stop and exhausting.

I relate to this quote by Sylvia Plath because right now I am trying to find a balance between the ricocheting moods that keep crashing down upon me. I can feel strong and capable of fighting the good fight (No Ban! No Wall! Clean Water for All!) one minute, and the next I can feel gutted and afraid, and the next can be a weird mix of we can and will make things better and I just want to cry for the pain I am seeing spread due to ignorance, hate, misogyny, and racism.

Passivity is no answer and I am finding ways to be constantly active and happy in that activity because I know that I am being the person I want to be and the person who can help in her own little, constant ways. Madness will help no one, and right now everyone needs at least a little help.

We can do this. We can help America love and act in goodness for all. I believe it and I know others do too.

Namaste ~ Ella
