Monday Mantra 44

Spring Proverb Monday Mantra via LaWhimsyHappy Groundhog Day! It’s been officially declared by Punxsutawney Phil (of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania fame) that there are 6 more weeks of Winter in store for the North. Of course there are actually about 6 weeks left until the Spring Equinox, however, tradition holds that should the groundhog see his shadow on this day, it shall be 6 more weeks of quite Wintery weather. with this in mind, I felt that the dear proverb that “No matter how long the Winter, Spring is sure to follow” was perfectly fitting. Winter can come into our lives in so many forms, be it an actual season, or a state of mind/being. It’s a seemingly fallow time, one of inward workings, hibernation, reflection, soul-tending. It can be lonely, bleak, quiet…and yet, no matter how much it may feel like it’s a permanent state, Spring, in all it’s magnificent, bursting forth renewal will always arrive. Instead of focusing on the idea of 6 more weeks of cold, bitter weather, I’m going to focus on the idea that below the surface life is now beginning to stir and slowly creeping toward the surface where it will break out and unleash it’s new life force – for today is also Imbolc, a celebration of the promise of spring, new life, hope, and rebirth. Stop for a moment today, really look at the world around you and take notice of all of the small changes that are occurring. It’s truly glorious!
