Happy Imbolc and Groundhog’s Day

Today marks the midway point between Winter’s start and Spring’s beginnings. It’s a wonderful time of promise and joy here in the midst of the bitter cold and quiet sleep of Winter. The days are slowly growing longer and soon we shall begin to see the very start of new life in Spring’s growth. Farms will see the birth of lambs and calfs and the birds will be returning (though here in the South we are lucky enough to hear bird song year-round). Imbolc, or Saint Brighid’s Day, is a festival of hearth and home and a celebration of the returning sun, lengthening days and rebirth of the Earth. However you celebrate today, be it by groundhog, candles, or even football (the superbowl coincides this year don’t ya know, lol), may you have a delightful time of it!
