First off, Happy Spring! Today marks the Spring Equinox and the turning of the seasons from the cold sleep of Winter to the warm awakening of Spring here in the Northern Hemisphere. I thought that floromancy was a wonderfully well-suited word for today’s Word Nerd, since it deals with plants and flowers and those shall be popping up in abundance over the next few weeks. I’m sure all of us, at one time or another, have done the “He loves me, He loves me not” flower-petal plucking. That is one simple form of floromancy, believe it or not. Searching for and finding a four-leaf clover and believing in it’s good luck is another. All of Botany is filled with endless lore, charms and healing powers that can all fall under the title of floromancy. I think it’s wonderful and to be able to share in the gifts and beauty that Nature provides makes me a very giddy and happy soul.
I’m glad Spring is back again and I wonder what forms of floromancy I have practiced without even realizing it!
