Your breath is always there, simply waiting for you to return your focus to it…

Your breath is a miracle in action. You breathe in and out without even noticing it. Your lungs fill and empty in a constant, steady cycle. And unless you have difficulty with your breath, you often pay it little heed.
Yet, your breath is the secret to life. Bring your attention, your focus, to this constant, everyday bodily action, and you can make magic happen.
Pause for a minute and just breathe. Let your mind attend only to the in and out, the rise and fall, of your breath.
What did you notice? Are your breaths shallow and quick? Did they begin to deepen and slow as you payed attention? Did your body start to unclench and relax into your breath? Did you feel a softening, an ease in your being, your mind?
I bet you did. And I bet if felt really good, wonderful even. Now, take about five minutes and just breathe. Let everything fade away and only breathe. For five minutes nothing else matters but your breath. If your mind wanders that’s okay, just settle your attention back to your breathe when you notice. Even if it happens again and again. Just bring your awareness, your focus, back to your breath.
I bet that five minutes felt even better than the minute you started with. The softening deepened a bit more. Your shoulders relaxed and dropped down from your ears. Your lungs started to take in a bit more air and release a bit more too. You might feel a bit buzzy – that’s an oxygen flow and it’s flowing through you! Isn’t it amazing how good, how rejuvenated, a bit of intentional, mindful breathing can be?!
The thing is, mindful breathing is something we are all capable of, at any time of day. If you are feeling stressed, breathe. If you are feeling tired, breathe. Overwhelmed, breathe. Upset, breathe. Over-excited, breathe. Hyper, breathe. Anxious, breathe. Angry, breathe. Grateful, breathe.
Coming back to your breath at any time brings you back to your center, back to YOU. Your breath and the way you breathe, is your secret key to life. You can work magic and miracles if you simply pause and intentionally breathe. By actively choosing to place your focus with your breath, you can alter your mood, your mindset, and your reactions. It’s easy, it’s free, and it’s a customizable, take anywhere, adapt to anything way of being. I mean, just wow! Try taking a few mindful breaths right now and see for yourself!
