Another piece of invaluable and divine wisdom, this time from the marvelous Lucille Ball. The entire quote reads…
“Love yourself first and the rest will fall into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.“
How wonderfully wise is this?! I mean it’s one of those obvious truths that when you pause and actually think about it you you hear a sort of bell go off in your head and you go “Of Course!”. If you love yourself first and foremost then you have access to all the tools you need to get things done.
By loving yourself, that means you accept yourself and even when your less than stellar aspects take hold, you know it’ll be okay and not only that, you know that you will be okay and you are okay, flaws and all. You are more able to stop, take a deep breath and shake off the negative, even if you are the cause of it. It’s absolutely amazing!
Now I know that some of you might be like, yeah right – no way is it that easy. And I get it, hell I’ve been there! But I do have to ask, why can’t it be that easy? Why not love yourself exactly as you are? There is no way that you are unlovable, not by any means. It’s okay to be gentle with yourself. It’s okay to forgive yourself – no matter what. It’s okay to feel like you are the biggest screw-up who ever screwed-up in the long-ass history of screw-ups. You are still completely lovable. In fact, you deserve some extra tender love and care from yourself. You deserve softness, gentleness, acceptance and love. You deserve love and to love yourself. You do.
Love yourself. You are the only person, the only thing, standing between yourself and love. Let yourself be loved and be loved by YOU. The more you love yourself, the more love will show up all around you (I mean RuPaul said it best!). The more you accept yourself and love yourself and treat yourself with kindness, the more your life will become saturated with love in so many ways. It’s such a marvelous feeling and it’s your’s to have, to revel in, to share and to multiply. Give yourself permission and love yourself. You’re worth it!
