When you look at yourself what do you see? Do you see all the wonderful, unique, powerful, beautiful parts of yourself glowing out and proclaiming that, though you are not perfect, you are perfectly YOU?
Or do you, perhaps, see the more ugly, negative parts that see to mark you as unfit somehow, as lesser? Those parts of you, those very flawed, human aspects are simply just another piece of the complex being that is you.
You are not lesser for having them, for embracing them, for acknowledging that, yes, you are not always kind, not always calm, or fair, or smart, or anything.
In fact, by taking notice and being aware of these uglier, harsher parts of yourself, and by not judging yourself by them, rather, taking a lesson from them, you are accepting and loving yourself.
To make it in this world filled with sharpness, with harsh realities and often times brutal ugliness, you don’t have to become those things. You can choose to instead arm yourself with the most powerful thing there is – LOVE. To love yourself so fiercely, so completely is to embrace an absolutely awesome freedom and one that has endless ripple effects.
So perhaps, as Rudy Francisco so succinctly put it, we should love ourselves so fiercely, that when others see us they know exactly how it should be done.
