Affirmation Mondays 97 – If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love anyone else?

Love is in the air, on store shelves, in ads, etc…and yet it can all feel so shallow, so hollow. While Valentine’s Day can be an absolute, cheesy delight (and yes, even if you are *gasp* single), it can be made even better by one little choice. That choice, you ask, why it’s the choice to be your own Valentine each and every day of the year.

As the always witty and rather wise RuPaul so aptly states…

“If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love anyone else?”

I mean, really, you are the beginning and the end of YOU. You are the creator, the survivor, the explorer, and yes, the ultimate lover of You and your life. To know yourself, is to accept, embrace, and love yourself. We are all creatures of love. Love is what sets us apart and makes us the beautiful, vulnerable, incredibly capable, ultimately flawed, yet bizarrely, indescribably unique people that we are.

Love yourself. Choose you and choose a loving, adored well-loved you. Even when you have others in your life to share love with and receive love from, you need to love yourself too. There is never, ever too much love. And with it, all things are possible.

So this Valentine’s Day, be your own Valentine and by loving yourself, see how much more love you are able to give to others.
