“You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you odd.” Flannery O’Connor was really onto something with this observation, albeit She was focused on a more religious vein. I feel that this line speaks to all forms of truth, since truth is quite an odd thing in and of itself – the phrase “truth is stranger than fiction” came about for a very good reason! To know your own, personal truth can often mean taking a stand that puts you at odds with others. There is a certain fear that knowing and owning your truth can make you an object of ridicule, can isolate you, or make you odd. This is rubbish, because oddly enough (see what I did there, tee-hee), by being open to the truth, you are being open to yourself. If that makes you odd, well then, so be it, because it makes you, You and that is worth everything. Start to know your truth and embrace your odd because it’s amazing, unique, and beautiful!
