These pages are just so ME! The textures, the nature goodness, the Pink Squirrel ~ just everything about them is me and I really felt the flow as I created them.
This first page may seem deceptively simplistic in it’s layout, however it took a bit of tricky cutting and pasting to get the lines just so. I have a thing for old, weather-beaten and aged buildings and the stories their faded and worn walls hold, even as they crumble and become re-claimed by the wild earth around them. Listen closely and you may even get hints at what tales lay within this buildings silvered, wooden facade…
This page is one of pure and utter happiness since not only is there a lovely, wooded bit of nature (I have been holding onto this scrap of beauty for ages now), but I added one of my darling squirrel drawings (in pink, of course, since nothing says whimsy quite like a pink squirrel does!) amid some free-hand cut branches. This little cutie is fast becoming one of my signature illustrations…
and I’m sure you can see why! I only wish I could more accurately capture the fantastic texture and color she has, but alas, these phone pics will have to do for this week, though I suppose they did a well enough job since I still squee a bit at the sight of her (don’t you just love it when you tickle yourself with your creative?!). I can’t wait to see everyone else’s pages!
