“This is the year I will remove my energies from spaces and people where I don’t feel valued or heard and pour them back into myself.” ~ Ella Patrice
A new unfolds before us, filled with so much to experience…
“This is the year I will remove my energies from spaces and people where I don’t feel valued or heard and pour them back into myself.”
It’s that time of year when resolutions are everywhere. Where so many feel determined to make changes and take control of their lives in hopes of being and doing better. Of achieving more. Of finally being able to find calm in the chaos that keeps wilding out around us.
Yeah, it’s probably not gonna happen. At least not in the ways that “society” tries to coerce us all into paying into with our minds, bodies, and money.
Society wants us all to be running our sweet selves ragged on an never-ending hamster wheel where the goal keeps moving further and further out of reach and we grow more and more weary and burnt out. In this way we stay small, ruin ourselves for other’s gain, and become dispassionate, angry, despondent cogs in a capitalistic dystopia.
How dreadful.
Instead of continuing this rather dismal trend, I’m fully intending to continue my path forward by disengaging with those people and places that do not value me. My power, and your power, comes from where and how you choose to share your energies. I am no longer giving my time and attention to any one or any place that disrespects me. You don’t want to listen and engage in an actual conversation, okay, I’m moving on. This place is a drain on me, well then I won’t spend any more time there then is absolutely necessary, if at all (and that includes social media). The only thing in this world that requires my energies is me, everything else is a choice and it’s my choice just how much of myself I give.
Basically, this year I choose ME. I choose to pour love, my energies, and attentions into me. I choose how I show up in the world and with other people. I choose who I want to spend time with. I choose when and how to compromise and when to simply say “No.”. I get to decide that something isn’t working for me and find alternative ways to make it work, or I get to just walk away. I get to act with kindness and love, but to also not be taken advantage of. I get to choose how to navigate the limitations that are currently in my life and find ways to get rid of them. The options are endless, even with the current state of things in this hectic world – at least that’s how I choose to see it.
Take some time and see where maybe you can begin to remove your energies from those places and people who don’t value you. You truly do have the power of yourself and you deserve to pour it back into you!
Take care and just know that you are not alone.
Namaste ~ Ella
