The greatest balm for the wounds of the soul lies right outside your door…
“I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order.“
There is very little that Nature cannot set to rights. A crazed mind – go to the woods and find it soothed. Anxiety – sit outside for a bit and find ease. Feeling stressed or upset – find your way to some trees or a creak and you will calm right down. Nature is the answer.
Nature is our greatest resource and our greatest gift. Yet we tend to ignore it, abuse it, spoil and waste and pollute it and then we can’t figure out why it rebels and causes such harm and destruction. Maybe if we listened to it more, respected it more, witnessed and interacted peacefully with it more, we wouldn’t be in such a place.
Yes, there will always be natural disasters and chaotic weather, but with love and respect given to the Earth and Nature, we could perhaps adapt and adjust a bit more, and maybe, just maybe those disasters wouldn’t have to be such wake-up call catastrophes.
I don”t say this to be glib or to take away from the sheer magnitude of Natural disasters (several of which are happening right now or the results of which are still being terribly felt), but rather to draw attention to the fact that Nature doesn’t have to be the enemy. Nature can be friend and ally but only if we actively put in the effort.
Nature is so soothing, so nurturing and magnificent. It gives us so much – food, water, oxygen – just to name a few essentials. It can provide shelter and it can soothe the soul and body in ways nothing else can touch. Nature puts us amidst the very divine and gives us a glimpse, a touch, a taste of that which our mortal minds can scratch the surface of.
I shall always go to nature to soothe my over anxious mind and to heal my world-weary body, and to have my over stimulated senses put back into order, and in return I shall do all I can to soothe and heal Nature. How about you?
