The first time I came across this lovely quote the words seems to reach inside and caress the deepest parts of my soul. The wounded, raw, aching parts that longed for healing, for recognition, for a balm to soothe and comfort them. I felt the prick of tears in my eyes and in a way I felt a beautiful sort of opening in my heart. I know I cannot go back, can never change or fix or beautify the broken, hurt, and yes, the ugly parts of my past. This is simply a fact, a truth. To fully recognize this and accept it, however, can be a bit more complex and confusing. Instead of continuing to focus on the past, ruminate and bemoan what it was, this quote pointed out what I can do. I can continue on, move forward and make my whole beautiful. Ugly is but a perception, just as beauty is. So why not focus on living in now and uniting all of my experiences into one rich, full, engagingly beautiful life?
