Affirmation Mondays 333 ~ It’s about living your life as if it really mattered, moment by moment by moment…

It's about living your life as if it really mattered, moment by moment by moment. Jon Kabat-Zinn quote Affirmation Mondays 333 via LaWhimsy“It’s about living your life as if it really mattered, moment by moment by moment.”~ Jon Kabat-Zinn

In a world filled with such needless pain, ignorance, and suffering there is a more optimistic way forward…

“It’s about living your life as if it really mattered, moment by moment by moment.”

There is something astounding in this quote, a delightfully universal and timeless wisdom. It’s a wisdom that tends to be drowned out and that many in a position of “power” wish to subdue in so many.

For so many the ability to live their lives as if it really mattered, moment by moment by moment is beyond difficult and that is a damn travesty. Between the misuse of government authority, the sheer abuse of guns, and the disgustingly pervasive notion of white supremacy, too many are having to live with fear, loss, and pain.

There are no words that can fully encapsulate just how horrific this is. None.

Living well, after all, is really all about loving your life as if it really mattered, moment by moment by moment. One foot in front of the other, one breath at a time. You matter. Your life matters. Moment by moment by moment.

Yet so many are continually told that, no, you don’t matter. Your – sexual orientation, your gender, your skin color, your race, your fill-in-the-blank with whatever seems to push bizarre buttons in a select group of others – makes you somehow less than.

The sheer fact that the big secret, the magic to existence – You and Your Life matter, really truly matter is withheld – or trying to be withheld – from people just because of some gross power grabs by small-minded individuals who are ruled solely by the almighty dollar is one of the most nauseatingly repugnant things I can think of.

That children are not safe when they go to school, that black individuals do not feel safe doing basic, everyday things because guns are not regulated. That every single person with a uterus is being threatened with a forcible lack of bodily autonomy because a very small group of people with “power” want it to be that way. That wars are constantly happening and so many are being killed and displaced and destroyed because of inane power grabs. All of it belies the actual beauty and power and love of each individual living their lives as if they really and truly mattered.

It just sucks so much because each and every single individual deserves to know that their lives matter, that each and every single moment they have is precious and worthy of beauty, peace, gentleness, and love. That each breath they take is divine and that their own unique power is worthy of notice and of being cherished – even if only by a select few.

I ache, my heart bleeds, I rage, and I surge forward with the fight against those who would try to silence and suppress so many for such inane and inhuman reasons. I will keep working towards finding a way to raise those up who have been knocked down and to keep safe those who want only to live without fear (myself included).

We are all worthy of living a life where we each really and truly matter, moment by moment by moment.  And dammit – we will prevail, the goodness, the light, the equality of all will prevail – this I believe and this I shall continue to live, moment by moment by moment.
