I believe that poetry is the beating, passionate pulse of life, or as near to it as mere words can attempt to convey…
“I love the abstract, delicate, profound, vague, voluptuously wordless sensation of living ecstatically.“
How much passion is captured in this glorious statement! When I first came upon these luscious words by Anaïs Nin I felt a spark of utter kinship in my soul. It was such an “Oh…Yes!” moment, since this is what I think of when I contemplate my ideal life, what I feel reverberating throughout my entire being when I am fully experiencing it.
Ecstatically living means living in a state of rapturous, inspiring delight. Is it a constant state of being, well no, not exactly. That would actually dilute the feelings, not to mention it would be rather exhausting. Just like we must have night to fully appreciate the day, we must have solid, steady, mild, certain, plain times of living to make the ecstatic times all the more delicious.
That said, each day holds dreamy, euphoric moments worth rhapsodizing upon. By taking the time to notice and appreciate them, to revel and be thrilled by them, you begin to weave “the abstract, delicate, profound, vague, voluptuously wordless sensations of living ecstatically” into your life. You enrich your being with the very reasons life is worth living and you take none of it for granted. It’s truly amazing.
Life has been rough and bumpy and heavy and has left so many of us bruised, sore, aching, and weeping. We are all a little worse for the wear, and yet, is this not the exact time to begin taking notice once more of all that is profound and worthy of ecstasy? The time to cultivate and hold ever more dear all those delicate, vague, abstract, and divine bits that inspire and feed the sensations of goodness and kindness? I say a most emphatic, soul deep YES!
By taking notice of all those little moments, and intertwining their magic with your own, you begin to realize that even the most mundane of things has it’s own kind of wonderment and ecstasy. It allows you to unlock one of the greatest mysteries and sources of power in life ~ that all life is worthwhile and that every experience, from the difficult to the awesome has a purpose, a meaning.
Life is poetry in this way. Life is eternal in this way.
