It’s been a terribly rough time. I’ve been doing what I can to find the positives, the motivation to keep on going into the future without repeating the mistakes of the past in what feels like a rather nasty version of Groundhog Day, however it’s been tough. I’ve even found go-to quotes feeling too trite, almost like they just are not quite right for what I’m feeling. This quote by Dan Millman from Way of the Peaceful Warrior (said by a character named Socrates not the real Socrates, btw) really struck a cord since right now the focus has to be on change. And like the quote says, “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” Building actual, progressive, all-encompassing change. The kind of change that dismantles the way things have been and assembles a new way of doing, of being. A way that encourages, accepts. A way that is built upon open-mindedness, not fear. Upon grace and gentle caring, not bullying and ignorance. Upon kindness, not hate. It’s the way I want to live and it’s the world I want to dwell in and most importantly of all, it’s the world I want to leave to a younger generation. How about you? How have you been doing? What kind of change do you want to see, to do?
