Word Nerd: Pneuma

Word Nerd Header Apr 2016 via LaWhimsypneuma-definition-word-nerd-via-lawhimsyPneuma is a Greek based word meaning breath, spirit, or wind (and it’s pronounced noo-muh). Philosophically, pneuma means a person’s soul, their living essence. As an example from A Philosophical Dictionary by Voltaire‘Psyche’ was in the breast;pneumawas spread throughout the body;and ‘Nous’ was in the head.”  Pneuma could also be used to describe a ghost, since a ghost is usually thought of as the spirit of the deceased and they do usually present themselves as a breath or wind ~ eerie, no?

Pneuma is a very fascinating term, don’t you think so?
